CSG Winter 2026 Elections

The Winter 2026 CSG elections will be held at vote.umich.edu.
Voting begins on March 25th at 12:00 AM and concludes on March 26th at 10:00 PM.

Open Seats

CSG Executive:

  • President & Vice President (single ticket)​

The CSG President is the chief executive of, and chief advocate for, the student body. The President appoints student representatives to University-wide committees and to positions within the CSG Executive Branch; reports on student matters to the UM Board of Regents; and serves as a check on the Legislative Branch, with the power to sign and veto Assembly Resolutions, among other duties. They are elected alongside a Vice President, who supports them in their work.

CSG Assembly Seats:

The Following CSG Assembly seats will be up for election in March 2026:

  • College of Architecture & Urban Planning, one (1) seat

  • College of Engineering, six (6) seats

  • College of Literature, Science, & the Arts, fifteen (15) seats

  • College of Pharmacy, one (1) seat

  • Law School, one (1) seat

  • Medical School, one (1) seat

  • Rackham School of Graduate Studies, seven (7) seats

  • Ross School of Business, three (3) seats

  • School of Art & Design, one (1) seat

  • School of Dentistry, one (1) seat

  • School of Education, one (1) seat

  • School of Information, one (1) seat

  • School of Kinesiology, one (1) seat

  • School of Music, Theatre, & Dance, one (1) seat

  • School of Nursing, one (1) seat

  • School of Public Health, one (1) seat

  • School of Public Policy, one (1) seat

  • School of Social Work, one (1) seat

Elections
Timeline

Candidacy Applications Available / February 9, 2026
  • Candidacy applications will be made available in the CSG Office and on the CSG website.

Application Deadline / February 22, 2026 @ 11:59 PM
  • Preferred submission via the Google Form application. Applications dropped off in the CSG Office may not be processed until the following day (24 hours).

Candidate Information Session / February 23rd, 24th, 25th @ 6PM
  • ​Candidates are required to attend at least one of these meetings. 

  • February 23rd meeting will be held in person. The location is TBA.

  • February 24th and 25th meetings will be held on Zoom.

Voters Guide Available / February 27, 2026
  • A guide to inform voters about the candidates, will be created by the Elections Commission. The Voters’ Guide must be published on the elections information page no later than five days after the deadline of the candidacy applications and must be included on the Ballot.

Party Registration Deadline / March 2, 2026
  • ​Party Registration Applications will be made available in the CSG Office and on the CSG website.​

Meet the Candidates Event / March 17, 2026 @ 6PM
  • Location: TBD

  • Candidates for all positions are encouraged to attend. Further details will be communicated by the Elections Commission.

Sample Ballot Released on vote.umich.edu; Platform statements open for edits / March 18, 2026
  • No later than 8 days before the start of voting, the Elections Director will post an official sample ballot on the CSG website. The sample ballot will be open to edits to candidate platforms until 1 day before the start of voting.

Executive Debate / March 20, 2026 @ TBA
  • Location: TBA

  • The UEC will organize one debate that all Executive Tickets are invited to. The location and other relevant information will be announced shortly.

Campaign Donation and Expenditure Forms Due / March 24, 2026 @ 11:59 PM
  • Campaign finance forms and appropriate supplemental documentation must be submitted before the start of voting. Further expenditures must not be made after the submission. Campaign Finance information can be found in section VII.

  • Candidates who do not spend any money on their campaign do not need to submit a form. 

  • Completed forms will be made publicly available through the CSG website by the Elections Director within 24 hours of the submission deadline.

Polls Open / March 25, 2026 12:00 AM
Polls Close / March 26, 2026 10:00 PM
  • All election complaints (other than those from the Independent Special Prosecutor) are due.

Unofficial Results released / Morning of March 27th, 2026
  • Official Results certified upon conclusion of any elections complaints.
