Elections

Central Student Government is the campus-wide student government, representing all 19 degree-granting units at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  Various colleges and schools at the University have their own Student Government Elections as well.  If you are interested in running for LSA Student Government, you may find more information about LSA-SG Elections here.

The University Elections Commission is responsible for administering and certifying elections to the Central Student Government.

​

FALL 2022 ELECTION INFORMATION

 

Elections will be held on November 16, 2022 and November 17, 2022 to elect students to serve on the Central Student Government Assembly and the UMPD Oversight Committee. The following seats will be voted on.

​

  • Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, one (1) seat

  • School of Dentistry, one (1) seat

  • School of Education, one (1) seat

  • College of Engineering, one (2) seats

  • School of Information, one (1) seat 

  • School of Kinesiology, one (1) seat 

  • Medical School, one (1) seat

  • College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, one (1) seat 

  • Law School, one (1) seat

  • School of Music, Theatre & Dance, one (1) seat 

  • School of Nursing, one (1) seat

  • Rackham School of Graduate Studies, four (5) seats 

  • Ross School of Business, one (1) seat

  • University of Michigan Police Department Oversight Committee, one (1) seat

 

As a Representative in the CSG Assembly, you are expected to act on behalf of the students in your school/college in bringing business and voting as a member of the legislative body. You are expected to attend full Assembly meetings each Tuesday at 7:30 PM as well as one of its legislative committee meetings each week. More specific responsibilities of Assembly Representatives are outlined in the CSG Constitution.

Candidacy applications are now available! Applications can be submitted to electiondirector@umich.edu or in person at the CSG Office (3011 Michigan Union). Candidacy applications are due by October 30, 2022 at 5:00 p.m.

​

CSG is proud to support students who are Pell Grant-eligible by offering stipends for their service to the government. All individuals serving in the CSG Assembly are eligible to apply for this need-based compensation! Questions regarding compensation for work in CSG can be directed to Program Manager Jim Hoppes at jahoppes@umich.edu.

WINTER 2022 ELECTION INFORMATION

 

Elections were held on March 30, 2022 and March 31, 2022 to elect students to serve on the Central Student Government Assembly and the UMPD Oversight Committee. The following seats were filled in these elections:

Electon Court

Election Court

The Election Court comprises at least three and at most half of the active membership of CSJ, including the Chief Justice when applicable. Justices of CSJ are assigned to serve on the Election Court by the CSJ Chief Justice.
